Application Process for Canadian Study Permit

While getting enrolled in the top university or college in Canada whether for a master’s degree or bachelor’s is challenging due to tough competition, your permission to study here will be validated by a Study Permit.

A Study Permit is a document that a foreign student must acquire if he/she desires to study in Canada. It is issued by the Canadian immigration authorities and serves as a permission letter for students to enter the country.

Following are some of the essential documents you will need during the application process to support your eligibility:

  • Proof of full payment of first-year tuition fees

Got the admission in a designated learning institution and gathered all the necessary documents? Great! Now, you will have to check the processing time and fees, determine how you want to apply, and fill out the form while ensuring the documentation is perfect before submitting them.

Once the application is approved, the IRCC issues the below documents to the selected applicant:

  • An introduction letter to be presented to the immigration official at the port of entry in Canada
  • A temporary resident visa
  • A study permit valid until completion of the school year

In case the application is not approved, the reasons for refusal are elaborated in the letter

sent to the applicant.

Processing Time

Your visa application can take anywhere between 3-4 weeks to a maximum of 90 days for processing. However, due to the impact of COVID-19, it may take more time than usual to process the application.
